Adaptive feedback linearizing control of the anaerobic digestion process

Résumé

In this study we propose an original option to control the anaerobic digestion process based on the use of a three-step simple model as an observer. This model, which is a modification of the well-know AM2 model, gives to the Adaptive Feedback Linearizing Control System implemented the values of the non-measurable steady-states of the process. The control law obtained only needs the measurement of the chemical oxygen demand in order to stabilize the process. By this simple control strategy not sophisticated online instruments nor higher computation time are required. The simple observer model was identified with data obtained from an anaerobic digestion virtual plant (ADM1) implemented on Simulink-MatLab. The good performance of the control was confirmed when variations in the input concentrations and model parameter uncertainties were applied to the system within a robustness analysis.
