Simulation of tomato production under photovoltaic greenhouses

Résumé

Recently, many systems incorporating photovoltaic panels have emerged. In agriculture, this technology has been incorporated in greenhouses giving rise to new agro-systems called "photovoltaic greenhouses" which can produce electricity while ensuring a plant production. Previous studies have shown that the solar radiation received inside the greenhouse is reduced due to the presence of photovoltaic panels on the roof. However, the consequence of such decrease in the incident radiation on the fruit production and the final yield is still being discussed within this kind of agrosystem. Bearing this context in mind, the objective of this study is to use Tomato plant growth model TOMGRO (Gary et al., 1998), to simulate tomato production under different photovoltaic greenhouse architecture and with different cropping density.
