Embedded systems have to face various types of attacks: advanced mathematical algorithms and their efficient implementations at logical level, and various types of physical attacks such as observation and/or perturbation of a running circuit. We will introduce general principles and provide some examples of physical attacks using observation and analysis of the power consumption. We will also introduce various types of protections.
