Consert Experiment: Description and Performances in View of the New Target

Résumé

We summarize the scientific objectives of the CONSERT experiment. We point up the practical realisation of the instrument describing the main points necessary to understand how the instrument is working. The transponder structure and the principle of the temporal synchronization are explained. The calibration of the instrument is discussed and its performances as results of tests are shown. We also discuss future operations which have to be planned so as to prepare the in flight operations and to maintain the instrument knowledge for 11 years. Finally, the CONSERT ability to explore the 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet is discussed.
