Uwb Rfid Backscattered Energy In The Presence Of Nearby Metallic Reflectors

Résumé

The joint use of Ultrawide bandwidth (UWB) technology and Radiofrequency identification (RFID) systems for real-time object identification and localization is a promising solution to overcome most of the limitations that affect current narrowband RFID systems, such as reduced area coverage or insufficient locating resolution. Thus, it is interesting to investigate how the UWB tags interact with the surrounding objects, in order to evaluate their impact on the radio link quality. In this paper, UWB antenna backscattering is first discussed, then the energy backscattered by a UWB antenna in the special case of nearby metallic reflectors is both measured and simulated, and afterwards compared with the isolated antenna.
