A new electrical method for the investigation of the vicinity of a borehole
The thesis deals with the idea that boreholes allows the electrodes to be brought closer to a conductive or resistant body, whereby there is a notable gain compared to measurements made only from the surface. This is not a logging, where it is the immediate vicinity of the borehole that is being surveyed, but a prospecting technique using boreholes.
From geoelectric models of confined bodies of different shapes, it is shown that the surface use of two injection electrodes placed symmetrically with respect to the borehole head, with a vertical gradient measurement within the borehole (with 2 electrodes also), allows to determine the depth, the distance to the borehole, and the azimuth of the target.
