Time-resolved femtosecond x-ray diffraction by an ultra-short pulse produced by a laser

Abstract

The recent development of ultrafast x-ray sources makes conceivable the analysis of subpicosecond transient structures in physics, biology and chemistry. This paper focuses on the laser-produced plasma technique. Mainly on the basis of the work done at LOA (France), we report the first experiments dedicated to the analysis of subpicosecond atomic motions on this time-scale.
