Influence of heat transfer on the thermomechanical behavior of shape memory alloys
Abstract
In this review paper, the influence of heat transfer on the thermomechanical behavior of Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) is discussed. Both experimental and theoretical results in the literature associated with this issue are presented and discussed. Moreover, the impact of thermomechanical coupling on the fatigue lifetime of an SMA structure is considered. A novel approach to take into account the seemingly dependence of the fatigue lifetime on the temperature and frequency is proposed. © 2011 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l.-All rights reserved.
